Germany (full form of the state name since 1949: Federal Republic of Germany) is a federal state in Central Europe. It has 16 federal states and is structured as a liberal, democratic and social constitutional state. The Federal Republic of Germany, founded in 1949, represents the latest manifestation of the German nation state that was first founded in 1871. As part of the reunification of Germany, Berlin became the federal capital in 1990 and became the seat of parliament and government in 1991.
